Don't know why, but I'm in love with mustaches right now. And I really want a mustache bow tie.
I snuck this last one in because it's something I love and want, and he gets extra points for his stubble. :)

Dear Shopping Gods,
First off, I love you,
but please stop e-mailing me about purple shoes (seriously, how do you know me so well Piperlime?),
or having insanely beautiful things on sale (Creatures of Comfort and Bird, you guys are about to make a huge dent in my wee wallet),
or already stocking up on insanely beautiful fall items (yes, you Oak).
It hurts to not drop your precious items into my cart and just checkout.
Maybe next time when I have money.
Or maybe in three weeks when it's my birthday.
Love,
Katlin
P.S. You can blame my money woes on numerology because my number eight paper fell out of my wallet and I haven't made a new one.

Anna vs. Carine, Black Issue vs. Gwenyth
"I think Carine would win because Anna wouldn't be able to see properly from behind her massive dark glasses."
-Peaches Gedolf on which Vogue editor would win the catfight
So, the Black Issue is a hit seller and Gwenyth's US Vogue issue was a huge flop.
And advertiser's think black models aren't good for sales, but ad sales for the Black Issue went up.
Hhmm...
I promise I don't hate US Vogue or Anna, even if it looks like I do

Style Bytes!!!!!!!!
Agathe, I hope you don't mind, but this is too good not to share!
Her current site is not so much this kinda stuff:
But, more like this kinda stuff:
Nonetheless, stalking (in the highest form of flattery) starts now.

Isla Moda Isn't My Paradise
I saw some headlines about Karl Lagerfeld designing houses for some Fashion Island in Dubai a few days ago, but didn't bother to read the story for some reason. But thanks to my recent outbreak of insomnia (it's 5am HST), I came across this post and now, I am not a happy camper.
Fashion Island, along with it's fellow islands that make up The World (à la Fantasy Island), are man freaking made.
Okay, I get the whole capturing the India market trend because they're on the heels of China to become the hottest thing, but seriously, man made islands?!
Islands are beautiful, natural creations. Not something that you can (or should) just snap your fingers for, so a bunch of rich people can play. And if you have enough money to go galavanting there, how about investing it into the preservation of existing natural islands?
Now, this is all talk coming from someone who was born and raised on an island (O'ahu) and has witnessed luxury companies, among others, transform the once lush Waikiki into a luxury filled concrete jungle. We even have a Luxury Row. But, I guess it's all to boost the tourist economy, therefore the well being of Hawai'i's economy, etc, etc.
Non-islanders and islanders alike, what are your thoughts, I'd love to hear them and discuss this further!

Rule Breakers
Athletes on team sports have to settle for looking exactly their teammates, while athletes playing individual sports get to express themselves through their attire. With the recent discussion sparked by Maria Sharapova's Wimbledon outfit, I wanted to highlight some other female athletes that have taken risks with their fashion.
Sonja Henie: Ice Skating
Wore short skirts in a time of covering up.
Suzanne Lenglen: Tennis
Head scarves, sleeveless tops, short skirts, oh my!
Amelia Earhart: Aviation
Classic!
Florence Griffith-Joyner: Track and Field
My personal favorite! Seriously, who wears one legged leggings or lace leggings, while running?
Venus and Serena Williams: Tennis
These sisters rock the tennis courts hard!
Michelle Wie: Golf
Always sporting some dangly earrings on the green.
Maria Sharapova: Tennis
Fuses street styles with athletic wear.
