The Viridi-Anne is a Japanese menswear label that I've just discovered and fell in love with. The pieces are strong individually, but they really pack a sartorialist punch when styled as impeccably well as they are here. For me, the styling is not just about the beautifully crafted clothes, but how they are enhanced by keeping with a monochromatic look and mixing lightweight and heavier weight fabrics.
And, of course, you know I have to check out their jewelry! Right now, I'm really into mixing leather with harder elements, so this crystal in a pod necklace is, also, very-awesome.

it's not august 31
But I just bought Little Dragon's new album, Machine Dreams on iTunes. On their Myspace it says it comes out August 31 and on Amazon you can pre-order the CD and receive it in September. I feel like this is some secret slip or major fuck up. Nonetheless, I'm happy to finally have some new Little Dragon in my ears! I'm usually not into the whole electronic thing, but Yukimi Nagano's voice is so hauntingly beautiful I have no choice but to close my eyes and get lost in it. "Feather" might just replace "Recommendation" as my #1 Little Dragon song.
Oh, and Yukimi's boyfriend is Jose Gonzalez. Can there ever be a more perfect marriage of honeyed voices? They need to do some official duets!

third thursday
What's better than a weekday off? Having a friend have the same weekday off, too! Yesterday, Kristin and I ventured to Makiki to visit The Contemporary Museum.
Saw delicate wooden flowers sprouting from the floors and walls by Yoshihiro Suda:
(I wanted to, too!)
Watched George Rickey's Two Open Triangles Up Gyratory:
Then we ate. I don't like feta cheese, but the one I ate was so awesomely creamy that I could've just had that for lunch. And then I was really glad I straightened my hair yesterday because, daaamn, does it make a difference in my new ID picture!
Also, I'm rediscovering how awesome combs are. Rediscovering because I haven't owned a brush or comb for a few years. I'm not the only one, right?

marly kruytzer
What is this stretchy meshy wire tubing called? I bought 8 feet of it when I was in New York and also got a strand of pyrite and gave it to my mom to make me something. She told me to get her beads for earrings and I got her stuff to make for me instead, haha. But she made me an awesome necklace that I'm always so scared to wear. The pyrite has some weight, so it pulls on the delicate mesh tube, and the pyrite is also rough, so I have to wear something that won't easily snag. Marly's necklaces look like they have some more balance to it. That is, if you like wearing marbles around your neck or a casual wire shrug to keep you warm. Which is totally what I want in life.

animal crackers in my soup
I'm not the biggest fan of Lady Gaga's music or style, but I do give her huge props for what she wears! As soon as I saw this (acoustic!) video I thought of Nagi Noda's hair hats I posted in June of last year. I'm not sure if she's wearing a Noda creation, but they sure do look alike:
[updated] Ok, so as I continued through my daily reads, it does seem like Lady Gaga is in fact wearing a Nagi Noda hair hat. Lucky bitch.

If you really knew how much you were loved, you would never cry again. A sublime relaxation would flood your nervous system, freeing you to see the beautiful secrets that your chronic fear has hidden from you. If you knew how much the world longs for your genius to bloom, the peace that filled you would ensure you could not fail. You'd face every trial with eager equanimity. You would always know exactly what to do because your intuition would tell you in a myriad of subtle ways.

pony
Finsk black fur wedge | Repetto pony hair zizi
Wearing pony hair on my feet makes me a little uncomfortable, but the rough/smooth texture and way the light shines on all the little fibers is calling out to me. Too bad I checked my bank account last night and was shocked out of my brain. And not in a good way.

Critter Crayons from The Elf and Sparrow Workshop
I would never wanna color with these. Just prop them on a shelf and let them have their own little community. Oh, and a warning beforehand: I'm getting obsessed with dinosaur toys and the like, so expect to see more in the future. Get excited.
