I love primary colors together.

I once wanted to paint my kitchen red, living room yellow, bathrooms blue, and have the other walls stark white. I change my mind all the time though, so I think I would be better off with dark wood floors and super white walls.

Lately, I've really been into home decor and dreaming about owning a cottage in Diamond Head. It ain't gonna happen, but I'd like to think someday it will.

Wishful Thinking

Here's a picture of my Japanese perm. Not the best picture (excuse the damaged ends and my growing out color) because they got flattened as I slept, but you get the idea- it's just natural wavy goodness.


Oooh, and today's my 21st birthday and I'm not gonna lie, I'm mostly excited about the fact that I can now buy organic alcohol while I pick up bread and hummus at my favorite co-op. Haha.

I briefly mentioned numerology and the number 8 in my shopping rant, and on this auspicious eight filled day I thought I'd share the wealth.

I'm sort of a numerology freak. My life path is 8 and I see number 8's everywhere. Yeah, it's crazy.

Ok, now for the good stuff. Get a piece of paper than can fit in your wallet, write a number eight on it, and then put it in your wallet. This should either bring you unexpected money, improve your financial well being, and/or help you win the jackpot. I haven't hit the jackpot yet, but I have been pretty financially secure and my brother said it's helped him.

Revisited Movies + The Black Issue

I forgot how much I loved both of these beautiful movies as a kid. If you haven't seen them, do so, they're definitely among my favorites.

And I finalllly got my arse to Borders and got the Black Issue. I haven't fully read it yet, but from what I did see, I'm a little disappointed with the content, but the editorials make up for it, although I would've liked more creativity. It also would've been nice to see only black women in the ads and more throughout the entire mag, but I guess that's just too far fetched for the advertisers. Sigh, one day it'll happen.

The Next Generation

If you're making a big deal out of Tavi being 12 then you'll probably being making a big deal out of this wee one too.

Adie is FOUR and she posts her polaroids and thoughts on her blog with the help of her mom who has an equally awesome photo blog.


If I could choose, I would want to stay four and be in preschool forever. And not just for the naps, but because of how honest they are, their fresh perspective on life, and their carefree attitude. They also have so much energy for such little bodies. I was at the dentist the other day and this boy wearing bright blue rainboots was running around and another girl was standing on a chair belting out the alphabet. I wanna run and sing at the top of my lungs while wearing blue rainboots. But what's stopping me (and everyone else) from doing it? We've been told to sit still, use our inside voice, and to dress practically.


I'm at least thankful that my mom has always let me pick my own clothes out, even if I put together outfits as seen in the first pic.

I don't really know what I'm trying to get at, but lately I've just been feeling weird about life and wish I could return to simpler times when I didn't have to worry about life and didn't have so many preconceived notions about everything. All this thinking may have to do with me turning 21 soon and trying to make sense of it. Because what is a birthday? Another year, another day... What is age? I feel like I've been 21 since high school. I feel like those mean old mommys that judge everyone and tell you how to live your life. I feel like a helpless toddler that's only goal is to bother you and make you laugh. I feel like a hermit that likes to stay home and not talk to people.

I guess it's all how you look at it...

Furry Upper Lip

First off, I love you,

but please stop e-mailing me about purple shoes (seriously, how do you know me so well Piperlime?),

or having insanely beautiful things on sale (Creatures of Comfort and Bird, you guys are about to make a huge dent in my wee wallet),

or already stocking up on insanely beautiful fall items (yes, you Oak).

It hurts to not drop your precious items into my cart and just checkout.

Maybe next time when I have money.
